NSW: Horsewoman, trail bike rider airlifted after falls

SYDNEY, April 25 AAP - A 23-year-old horse rider and a 33-year-old trail bike rider were
airlifted to hospital after separate accidents in Sydney's north today.

A Mt Colah woman, injured when she fell from her horse in a rugged gorge 10km north of
Kurrajong, was airlifted by the NRMA CareFlight medical team to Nepean Hospital around 2.30pm
(AEST).

Her riding companion raised the alarm and a 4WD vehicle was used to carry the woman to an
improvised helipad on the top of a ridge where she was treated by medics for lower back
injuries.

The woman was in a stable condition on arrival at the hospital.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old Neutral Bay man suffered possible spinal injuries when he was
thrown from his trail bike during a motocross competition at Lower Portland, north of the
Hawkesbury River.

The man, who fell on his back after attempting a jump, was treated at the scene before
being flown to Westmead Hospital for x-rays where he was in a stable condition on arrival at
6pm (AEST).
