CondeNet today announces that Elizabeth Shepard has joined Epicurious as editor in chief. Ms. Shepard oversees all editorial development for Epicurious, the most-visited food destination online and the home of Gourmet and Bon Appetit magazines.
The announcement was made by Sarah Chubb, president of CondeNet. "Elizabeth brings a wealth of new media and editorial experience to Epicurious," says Ms. Chubb. "Her perspective and expertise will help to maintain Epicurious' reputation as an unparalleled resource for food and cooking enthusiasts."
Ms. Shepard joins Epicurious with extensive new media and journalism experience. Most recently, Ms. Shepard served as general manager of Halo46, a multimedia upscale lifestyle brand that launched content and commerce on the Internet. As general manager, Ms. Shepard oversaw online and offline brand positioning, selected the editorial, marketing and technology teams, and launched a Web magazine and online store in five months.
Ms. Shepard has also worked as a freelance journalist for more than a decade and is the recipient of three journalism awards. She has been published in Parade and other magazines, and she worked as a contributing editor for the "food and travel" section of Worth.com. Ms. Shepard is the author of the novel H, a New York Times notable book for which she completed two national media tours, and has also held editorial positions at Women.com/Hearst New Media and Technology, Bertelsmann Online and iVillage.
Ms. Shepard holds a BA in English composition from Vassar College and an MFA in writing from Columbia University.
